On the morning of November 21, the Government Accountability Office (GAO) released a report on the status of US Federal Agency Compliance with current requirements for public access to federally funded research outputs. Starting in 2013, 19 federal agencies were directed to create plans for increasing access to publications and data resulting from research they funded. As of the release of that report, 7 agencies have not yet taken steps to make data findable, 4 don’t require all researchers to submit a plan to provide access to data, and 11 agencies to not ensure that researchers comply with access requirementsThe report outlines 37 recommendations for agencies to take to ensure compliance with the Public Access Directive.
